Patented in 1954, Buckminster Fuller’s Dymaxion Projection was the first map to present geographic information without breaks in any of the continental contours and with minimal distortion of the relative shapes or sizes of the land masses. This became the world’s most accurate two-dimensional map, presenting the planet as one interdependent archipelago and a single ocean rather than a series or separate nations and cultures.
Designer Brendan Ravenhill has configured Fuller’s Dymaxion Projection as a magnetic folding globe which quickly transitions from flat to 3-D.
With an emphasis on American design, Areaware works with a variety of designers to create objects that elevate everyday experiences beyond the ordinary.
