Using four-century old Nambu Tekki (cast iron) techniques, this pair of bookends is hand-forged and exemplify Japanese traditional craft. Lovely on their own while functional for holding books. A great addition to your library. Made in Japan.
The Iwate Prefecture in the northern part of Japan has been a center of ironware since the mid-17th century. Since this area is part of the ancient Nambu Domain, ironware made here is called "Nambu-tekki" and is traditionally known to be of the highest quality. The black color of the iron is an applied lacquer which deters rust.
