Soldout
SKU: 072184-680
$59.00

A beautiful new throw pillow for the season! Maija Louekari’s abstract Hyräily (humming) pattern was hand-painted with a thick brush.  In using this method, she encourages us to embrace carefree beauty, not straight lines and angles. The cover includes a concealed zipper for easy removal and laundering. Made in Estonia.

Founded in 1951 by visionary Finnish textile designer Armi Raitia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko grew from a small textile-printing firm into an international phenomenon. From its beginnings as a textile design company, Marimekko (meaning “Mary’s dress”) branched out into everything from toys to dinnerware to architecture, becoming something of a lifestyle brand in the 1960s and 70s. The company’s outstanding designers revolutionized modern printed fabrics and fashion. Today the company continues to collaborate with young artists, encouraging experimentation. The result is spirited, non-traditional patterns and vivid colors.
