These fun ankle socks combine two classic patterns from designer Maija Isola. Choose your size from the drop-down. Machine wash warm, line dry. Made in Portugal.
A young Maija Isola designed Unikko in 1964 after being told that Marimekko would never produce a floral print. Over five decades and countless color combinations, Unikko remains Marimekko’s most enduring pattern. The dynamic stripe pattern Ralli (rally race) was inspired by the streamlined tapings seen on racecars.
Founded in 1951 by visionary Finnish textile designer Armi Raitia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko grew from a small textile-printing firm into an international phenomenon. From its beginnings as a textile design company, Marimekko (meaning “Mary’s dress”) branched out into everything from toys to dinnerware to architecture, becoming something of a lifestyle brand in the 1960s and 70s. The company’s outstanding designers revolutionized modern printed fabrics and fashion. Today the company continues to collaborate with young artists, encouraging experimentation. The result is spirited, non-traditional patterns and vivid colors.
