Good Design Since 2008
A pretty new throw pillow will spruce up your sofa or reading chair this fall. Fujiwo Ishimoto’s monumental Kuiskaus (whisper) pattern exudes both power and delicacy and impressively combines influences from the Japanese aesthetic and Marimekko’s print design heritage. *Please note, the pattern placement varies on each pillow. The cover includes a concealed zipper for easy removal and laundering. Made in Estonia.
Founded in 1951 by visionary Finnish textile designer Armi Raitia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko grew from a small textile-printing firm into an international phenomenon. From its beginnings as a textile design company, Marimekko (meaning “Mary’s dress”) branched out into everything from toys to dinnerware to architecture, becoming something of a lifestyle brand in the 1960s and 70s. The company’s outstanding designers revolutionized modern printed fabrics and fashion. Today the company continues to collaborate with young artists, encouraging experimentation. The result is spirited, non-traditional patterns and vivid colors.
