Unikko Kollaasi Apron
SKU: 073302-850
$62.00

We love this apron, featuring a new take on the Unikko pattern to celebrate it's 60th anniversary. A young Maija Isola designed her iconic Unikko (poppy) pattern in 1964, after being told that Marimekko would never produce a floral print. To celebrate the pattern's 60th anniversary, here's a kollaasi (collage) of poppies in navy and cream.  In recognition of this anniversary, this apron features the anniversary label.  Adjustable neck strap for a comfortable fit and front pockets help keep the cook organized. Machine wash warm, air dry. Made in Estonia.

Please note: these kitchen textiles are sewn using the whole width of the fabric, and therefore their appearance may vary. Each item is unique.

Founded in 1951 by visionary Finnish textile designer Armi Raitia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko grew from a small textile-printing firm into an international phenomenon. From its beginnings as a textile design company, Marimekko (meaning "Mary's dress") branched out into everything from toys to dinnerware to architecture, becoming something of a lifestyle brand in the 1960s and 70s. The company's outstanding designers revolutionized modern printed fabrics and fashion. Today the company continues to collaborate with young artists, encouraging experimentation. The result is spirited, non-traditional patterns and vivid colors.
