Good Design Since 2008
A lightweight cotton bandana featuring Maija Isaola's Musta Tamma (black mare) pattern, designed in 1954. This design reflects Maija Isola’s recollections of her childhood, when she often imagined that she was running in the woods with a herd of horses. A festive red horse celebrates 2026, the Lunar Year of the Fire Horse. Tie around your neck or knot on a ponytail for a dash of fun. Made in India.
Founded in 1951 by visionary Finnish textile designer Armi Raitia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko grew from a small textile-printing firm into an international phenomenon. From its beginnings as a textile design company, Marimekko (meaning “Mary’s dress”) branched out into everything from toys to dinnerware to architecture, becoming something of a lifestyle brand in the 1960s and 70s. The company’s outstanding designers revolutionized modern printed fabrics and fashion. Today the company continues to collaborate with young artists, encouraging experimentation. The result is spirited, non-traditional patterns and vivid colors.
