Using four-century old Nambu Tekki (cast iron) techniques, these crow openers are hand-forged and exemplify Japanese traditional craft. Although they are meant to pop bottle caps, we love these little sculptures simply gracing our tabletop. Made in Japan.

The Iwate Prefecture in the northern part of Japan has been a center of ironware since the mid-17th century. Since this area is part of the ancient Nambu domain, ironware made here is called “Nambu-tekki” and is traditionally known to be of the highest quality. The black color of the iron is an applied lacquer which deters rust.
