Iwami Mortar Bowl w/ Pestle

Motoshige’s large ceramic mortar bowl is made using traditional Iwami Clay that has excellent durability, with an exterior black glaze. Designed to catch and bring ingredients down to the center of the bowl, as well as to serve straight to the table with its overall beauty. Carefully crafting the interior ceramic base using hand-combing and sharpening techniques result in the most efficient design to grind and mix your ingredients. Added to the bowl’s functional ease, its base is outfitted with silicone to prevent slipping while working. Accompanying the mortar bowl is Motoshige’s Surikogi pestle made of sturdy Ptercocarya wood (walnut family). Hand wash recommended. Made in Japan.
